Basic terminology

Prepare yourself for the lessons

Get the basics right before you dive into practice - and of course for anyone who finally wants to drill these terms once and for all.

Before we start with the main courses, we offer three short live sessions to get you comfortable with the basic terminology: Bones, Directions, and Movements. These sessions are the perfect preparation - interactive, focused, and designed to make the words stick. You’ll repeat the terms, see clear visuals, and get the chance to practice them out loud. It may feel simple at times, but this proven method works: after just one lesson, your Latin vocabulary will already have grown.

Each session lasts about one hour and is taught in very small groups of maximum 3 participants, always at the same level.

Levels
  • Level 1: Highly visual and demonstrative. You can participate with minimal language skills.
  • Level 2: Basic understanding of the spoken or written language is needed.
  • Level 3: Comfortable language use required. Includes explanations and terminology.

If you are already at Level 3 and mainly want to refresh the terms, we can combine Directions and Movements into one lesson instead of two.

Bones
Learn the names of the foot bones
In this session you’ll learn the names of all the bones of the foot. No theory or function - just drilling the words with repetition and visuals until they stick.

Bones – Learn and practice the names of all foot bones, step by step.
Directions
Master the orientation terms
Here you’ll cover the essential terms to describe orientation in and around the foot: lateral, medial, dorsal, plantar, distal, proximal, posterior, and anterior. Through repetition and visuals, these words will quickly become second nature.

Directions – Practice the key words that describe orientation around the foot
Movements
Learn the terms for foot movements
This session focuses on the main movement terms: pronation, supination, plantarflexion, dorsiflexion, abduction, and adduction. Interactive practice and drilling help you memorize them quickly and with confidence.

Movements – Practice the essential terms that describe how the foot moves.
